Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES) - Learning and Teaching Development Fund

The Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES SC) is offering funding of up to £15,000 per project to support learning and teaching in the GEES disciplines at any level of higher education in the UK. The funding will be awarded by open competition to projects that enhance student learning in one or more of the GEES disciplines. It is expected that funding will range from £2,000 to £15,000, with support available for individual practitioners, departments, cross-institution and co-discipline consortia.

Royal Society Education Research Fellowships

Generous support from The Ogden Trust and The Company of Actuaries Charitable Trust allows the Royal Society to launch a new Education Research Fellowship scheme that seeks to improve the quality of educational research and practice in the UK.

UK Physical Sciences Centre - Development Projects

The Centre has a fund of money to support academics wishing to develop and disseminate good, innovative teaching practices or to improve the quality of learning, teaching or assessment in the physical sciences.

Each year the Centre invites bids for funding of Development Projects which commence in September.

The call for 2010/11 bids is now open, the deadline for bids is March 31, 2010.

First Year Student Attitudes to, and Skills in, Sustainable Development

The Higher Education Academy’s ESD Project wishes to commission research to inform the HE sector – most notably academics, senior managers in HEIs and policy makers – on the attitudes and skills of first year students to and in sustainable development (SD).

An Evaluation of the Impact of Completed Small and Mini-Grants

The Academy’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project wishes to commission an evaluation of the impact of Small and Mini-Grants commissioned by the ESD Project.

Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network - Pedagogic Research & Development Projects Round 11

We are pleased to announce the eleventh round of our Pedagogic Research and Development Fund. The aim of this fund is to support and encourage pedagogic research and development in order to:

Provide evidence-based examples of good practice and innovation in effective learning, teaching and assessment (for example in personal tutoring, reducing plagiarism, student feedback)
Facilitate the review of current practice and the development of recommendations
Disseminate educational methods which others might use
Raise the profile and awareness of pedagogic research and issues within HLST
Develop materials to support course delivery.

This year we must allocate funding by early July, meaning that we have to make the deadline for submission of bids earlier than usual.

Learning and teaching development project grants from the Economics Network

The Economics Network of the Higher Education Academy invites proposals from the UK Economics community for small projects to be funded in the next academic year. Projects will address the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment in Economics Higher Education.
